Mother Yvonne’s Visit in Poland
Łomianki (Poland). Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians visited the Polish Province of Our Lady of Jasna Gora (PLJ) on August 1-5, 2016. Mother arrived at St. Joseph Provincial House in Lomianki on the evening of July 31, 2016, at the conclusion of World Youth Day held at Krakow.
On the morning of August 1, Mother had personal encounters with the Provincial, Sr. Lidia Strzelczyk, and the two missionary sisters of Ethiopia; Sr. Aleksandra Bartoszewska and Sr. Elżbieta Czarnecka. After lunch with the community, she presided over the meeting with the Provincial Council. In the evening, she participated in the celebration of Vespers together with the sisters who had come from the near-by communities of: Łomianki Immaculate Heart of Mary; Warszawa S. M. D. Mazzarello; Warszawa Sacred Heart; the sisters of PLA from the two communities of Warszawa: Queen of Peace and M. L. Meozzi. Also present were the Superior and Economer of the EEG Preprovince and the two missionaries from the AES Province.
After prayers, there was supper enjoyed in a climate of fraternity and joy.
At the end of the day, Mother gave the Good Night and emphasized some powerful moments lived at WYD in Krakow. She shared the life of the Institute in various parts of the world, encouraging us to live as happy Daughters of Mary Help of Christians
On August 2nd, the community of Łomianki, Immaculate Heart of Mary joyfully welcomed Mother together with the FMA, laity, children, and young people representing the educating communities of the whole Province of Our Lady of Jasna Góra. There were about 300 people present. The encounter started with the Eucharistic Celebration presided by Fr. Andrzej Wujek SDB, Provincial of Warszawa. This was followed with the greeting for Mother on the part of the Provincial and the participants. After lunch, there was a time of fraternity and festivity through the artistic presentations of each educating community gathered for the encounter with Mother.
In the evening, Mother Yvonne, accompanied by the PLJ Provincial and some sisters went to Garbów where the community and the Junior Professed who had come from their communities were waiting for her.
On August 3rd, Mother Yvonne reached the community of St. Joseph at Garbów, which is also the Interprovincial Novitiate house. The Novices were not present because they were at the Spiritual Retreat at Pieszyce in the PLA Province. In the morning, Mother met with the 11 Temporary Professed sisters of PLJ. Addressing them, Mother spoke in depth of the meaning of consecration to Jesus, of community life, and of the mission underlining the importance of the love of God received and corresponded with by each one at every moment of life. Then Mother answered the questions asked by the Junior Professed.
In the afternoon, Mother met with all the superiors of the 22 communities of PLJ, presenting the fundamental aspects of the service of authority in our Institute. At the Good Night in the evening, Mother introduced the day for the Renewal of Vows, inviting everyone to be spiritually in communion with all the sisters in the Institute who will renew their profession in various parts of the world.
On August 4th, at St. Joseph, Garbów, during the Eucharist Mother Yvonne received the renewal of vows of the 11 Junior Professed. Mother expressed her gratitude to the Lord for the vocation of each sister that signifies a gift to the Church, the Institute, and the young. After breakfast, Mother was greeted by all the sisters as she left for Pieszyce in the PLA Province, in the company of the Provincial of the PLJ Province and some sisters in the PLA Province. There she participated in the Celebration of entrance into the Novitiate by two postulants of the PLJ Province and three postulants of the PLA Province. On August 5th, she received the vows of First Profession of two sisters, one for each Polish Province.
During the trip, Mother stopped briefly for some refreshments in the community of Piotrków Trybunalski, Merciful Jesus and had the joy of finding some of the sisters of the community home and was able to know them and their mission in person. She also visited the “little window of life”, a nursery for abandoned new born babies, a service entrusted to the care of these sisters by the Diocese.
Mother returned to Rome on August 5th, late in the evening, to participate at the First Professions of the Sisters of the two Novitiates of Rome and of Castelgandolfo at the FMA Generalate.
