A new Website on the Social Teaching of the Church

A new Website on the Social Teaching of the Church On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Encyclical Mater et Magistra (1961), of John XXIII, the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace has created a website on the Social Teaching of the Church. One of the aims of this Vatican department is to deepen the Social Teaching of the Church, working to spread knowledge of it and to have it practiced by individuals and communities.

The website, in four languages (English, French, Italian and Spanish), was inaugurated after the International Congress on Justice and Globalisation: from Mater et Magistra to Caritas in veritate , which was held in Rome , May 16 to 18. This important event brought together those responsible for Justice and Peace Commissions, Offices dealing with social and labour issues and directors of Institutes and Centres for the Social Teaching of the Church from all continents. Sr. Julia Arciniegas, attended as a member of the Commission for Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation of USG /UISG.

The new website offers, not only all the input of the Congress, but also abundant material regarding the rich patrimony of the Teaching of the Church, highlighting its fundamental role in the evangelisation of social life. This aspect was also stressed by Benedict XVI, in the special audience given to the participants during the first day of the Congress.
