Salesian Mission and first proclamation: Study days

Salesian Mission and first proclamation: Study days

Calcutta (India). From August 7 to 11 study days are taking place on “the Salesian mission and the first proclamation of Christ in the threefold setting of Southern Asia”. During this six-year term the theme of first proclamation has been adopted as fundamental by the FMA Sector for the Missions ad/inter gentes and by the SDB Department of the Missions.
The study days are not just a seminar, but have as their aim the promotion of in depth reflection and discussion, within the local context, on the importance of the first proclamation in the three-fold context of Southern Asia. Their goal is to reach deeper under standing and to discover new intuitions and perspectives with a view to renewing missionary practice.
These days are made up of three stages. First the participants situate themselves in the Asian context. In the second there will be study and reflection sessions, and in the third they will formulate the conclusions.
The method chosen puts much emphasis on participation and maximum involvement, with a preparatory phase and a phase that will accompany them after the experience. During these days a workshop method has been chosen.
The days are being coordinated by Sr. Alaide Deretti, General Councillor for the FMA Missionary Sector and Fr. Klement Václav, General Councillor for the SDB Missionary Department, with their respective teams. Sr. Teresa Joseph and. T.C. George are acting as facilitators.
The topics for reflection and those entrusted to the experts are as follows: First proclamation in a multi-cultural educational context; First proclamation through the dialogue of life in a multi-faith context; first proclamation and human advancement and empowerment.
