Harambee 2011. Knowing and imitating Don Bosco, we make young people our life mission

Harambee 2011. Knowing and imitating Don Bosco, we make young people our life mission Turin, Italy - the 2011 Edition of Harambèe will take place on September 24-25. For two days, about 400 young people of the Salesian Provinces of Italy and of Europe will be at Colle Don Bosco and Turin, Valdocco. They are the ones who believe and work for Salesian Missionary Animation or have had summer experiences in poor countries. They want to celebrate joyfully together their commitment to remove every barrier between the North and the Sounth of the world in order to protect and promote human rights through concrete gestures of solidarity, inspired by Christian faith and Don Bosco’s charism.
Seventy four missionaries will be leaving to bring the Gospel to the five continents, applying Don Bosco’s educative method and thus giving life to the 142nd Salesian missionary expedition. In keeping with tradition, on Sunday, September 25, the Salesian Rector Major, Fr. Pascual Chàvez Villanueva, will preside at the Eucharistic Celebration in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Turin. During the Mass, he will consign the Crucifix and the missionary mandate to 31 Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), 20 Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), of which 16 are departing for the first time and 4 are already in the missions. In addition, there are 5 Sisters of the Charity of Jesus, 3 members of the lay Community of Don Bosco Mission, and 14 members of Salesian NGOs.
Present at the celebration will be Mother Yvonne Reungoat and Sr. Alaide Deretti, General Councillor for the Mission Sector, ad/inter gentes.

Thanks to the productions of Don Bosco Missions, the celebration will be transmitted in deferred televised satellites on Telepace and in streaming on www.missionidonbosco.tv at 13:30/1:30 PM (GMT+2).

It is great to see the word "inter" added to the Mission Sector`s title and identity. That better reflects our reality. Maureen.

Que linda experiencia! Rezamos por estos jovenes, y especialmente por estos nuevos misioneros de la Familia Salesiana que parten en Mision. Y un abrazo especial a la Hna Marisol de Argentina.
