First International Conference of Salesian History for Africa and Madagascar

First International Conference of Salesian History for Africa and Madagascar Nairobi ( Kenya ). The October 11 the First International Conference of Salesian History for Africa and Madagascar began. It will conclude on October 14 th . The title of the encounter is: Salesian History and identity. Production and use of sources and conservation of cultural patrimony.

Included in the programme for the first day was the reading of the words of welcome sent by the Rector Major and Mother General. This was followed by a welcome from Sr. Grazia Loparco and from the Provincial of the Province of St John Bosco , east Africa – Gianni Rolandi, and a workshop facilitated by Sr. Maria Rohrer on Why write Salesian History.

During the next few days there will be reports and testimonies on making and writing Salesian history in an African context. Sr. Piera Cavaglià, Secretary General, is present and, on 13th she will give an input on The stages in writing the history of the FMA Institute.

The encounter will finish on 14th with the conclusions, the presentation forms for the creation of a bibliographic data bank relating to Salesian history, and some information on the Association of Salesian History Lovers (ACSSA).
