Don Bosco Bicentenary Celebration in Thiruvottiyur (India)
Dawned with joyful note and enthusiasm colourful decoration marked the day as something great and memorable. The Birthday of our saintly founder and father of youth. This day is a ‘Red Letter’ day, for on this day the Bicentenary Celebration of Don Bosco began. (16.08.2014)
At 6.30a.m the Liturgical celebration gave a Festive tone to the Bicentenary starting celebration. Throughout the Eucharistic celebration the childhood days of Don Bosco and the role of Mamma Margaret were depicted through dialogue, skit, songs and dance.
At 9.00 a.m all the three school sisters, Teachers and Students met together before the well decorated picture of Don Bosco on the Stage. The gathering resembled beautiful butterflies and bees that were swamming around Rev.Fr. Mani Lazar SDB from youth Animation centre at Ennore. Came to preside our Celebration. At the very start the centenary flag was hoisted and colourful gas balloons with printed picture of Don bosco were released amidst thunderous claps and joyful noise of 2890 students. Then the prayer service led us to the next item of the programme. Songs, dances and skits from the life of Don bosco marked the opening celebration of the Bicentenary. Then the programme came to its end with bosco anthem that pealed high in the sky.
The Bechi week was celebrated in various levels in each sector. Quiz programme, various competitions songs, skits, dance, games, drawing about Don Bosco and about his 3 devotions songs,poems and orations were thrilling and enchanted the audience these competitions helped one and all to make a deep study on the life of Don Bosco.
Apart from our campus celebration and competitions our Hr.Sec.School Students took part in the inter schools programme in the province level and among the city schools with the salesians. In the Bosco exhibition held in St. Bedes, our students carried the second prize.
Every month Don Bosco film was projected on 16th of every month ‘Birth’ commemoration was kept up by each group veiling with one another with songs, competitions and dance.
On 27th jan 15, the staff and educating core group members visited St.John Bosco’s Shrine at Aynavaram Chennai and were enriched spirituality and intellectually with the exhibition exposed for the devotees of Do Bosco.
FEAST OF DON BOSCO : 31.01.2015
In preparation for the feast of Don Bosco the Word of God that reflected in the life of Don Bosco were marked, this exercise provoked the thoughts of our youth which they expressed through songs and verses On the feast of Don Bosco grand Eucharistic celebration was held, where in the maxims of Don bosco were displayed and the three devotions of Don Bosco were enacted with Prayers and offerings.
At 9.30 a.m the Hr.Sec. Students organized wonderful stage programme, where in they expressed their love for Don Bosco with songs, skits, dance, which portrayed Don Bosco love for the young. With the vigour and enthusiastic Salesian spirit Rev.Fr. Mani Lazer who presided the celebration congratulated the Students for their well organized programme that expressed their love for Don Bosco. With Don Bosco’s Anthem the programme came to an end.
In the evening community Sisters, Hostel Teachers along with the Boarders had “Bosco Evening” Based on the love of Don Bosco love for the young. The L.C.D show with prayer gave the lead to the “Bosco Evening” after the dinner games were conducted based on the maxims of Don Bosco, the shouts of joy filled the air the winner were awarded with prizes and together enjoyed snacks, that cheered them up.
May our founder and father of our Salesian family continue to assist us to win the youth world for God and help us to become friends and loves of youth.
