The following initiatives were taken to enlighten our recipients and the neighbourhood about the birth bicentennial year of Don Bosco:

Prayer to Don Bosco on every Tuesday after the communion during the liturgical celebration

Every 16th of the month is highlighted with special initiatives (during mass, Good Morning/Afternoon/Night thoughts) for the students. The materials for the group meeting of the students that is held twice a month was from the life of Don Bosco. Faith sharing on Don Bosco on every 16th of the month for the sisters is held. 

Every month during the introduction of the value for the month the life of Don Bosco is also combined according to the value proposed

On 14th August, 2014, the birth bicentenary year of Don Bosco was inaugurated with the hoisting of Don Bosco flag.  The flag was brought in procession with respect and honour by the NCC cadets and the Rangers, accompanied by the department secretaries and leaders with their respective flags while the students on either side strew flowers over the flag brought in procession, as a sign of their love, joy, respect, devotion and gratitude.  The flag was hoisted by the animator Sr. Amalorpavam Samala, while the whole college paid their homage singing a hymn to Don Bosco with gusto and jubilation

On 16th August, 2014, Don Bosco’s relic was brought in rally from Vellore Bishop House to Don Bosco.  The rally was organized by Don Bosco, Gandhi Nagar with the collaboration of the Salesians institutions around Gandhi Nagar.  It is to create an awareness for the public regarding the bicentennial birth year of Don Bosco and an expression of the gratitude and love of the Salesian family towards their father and founder.

From 29th to 31st August, 2014, the Catholic students had their Annual Retreat.  It was preached by five fathers in five groups.  All the priests were Salesians.  It was solely because to include the life of Don Bosco in their preaching as it is the bicentennial birth year of Don Bosco so that the young people may understand the heart of Don Bosco that was unto the heart of Good Shepherd that beat in love for the young people

The Youth Co-operators organized a grand quiz programme for the students to enlighten and deepen the knowledge of the youth on their father and founder Don Bosco.

Becchi Week Celebration:  25th January, 2015 to 31st January, 2015 was celebrated as Becchi Week.  The Becchi Week celebration was inaugurated with a solemn prayer service in the evening, on 25th January, 2015.  During the prayer moment the meaning and significance of the ‘Becchi Week’ celebration was highlighted.  Various clippings of Don Bosco highlighted the hard life of Don Bosco as a fatherless child, his aspiration to become a priest, thereby to become a father to many fatherless youngsters of his time and his tender yet firm love for young people in the salvation of their souls.  The prayer service kindled and instilled their love for their father and friend Don Bosco.  On the 26th, a singing competition was held with the agenda of making the students learn songs on their founder.  The presentations of the song on the stage was creative and thought provoking.  Every song presented was unique in its own way.  On the 27th, there was an essay writing completion on their expectations from the Salesian Sisters.  Many students participated in it with much interest and enthusiasm.  This topic was particularly chosen to understand the mind of the young people that it may serve as an inspiration to the sisters.  On the 28th the preliminary round for the youth fest presentation on the theme ‘Unity and communion in Diversity’ was held and the five departments viz., Computer Science, BCA, Commerce, Chemistry and Business Administration were selected for final round during the youth fest.  On the 29th.  On the 29th logo designing competition was held.  The logo was to be designed to suit the double celebration of the bicentennial birth year of Don Bosco and the youth fest.  The Becchi Week celebration was concluded with the celebration of Youth Fest.

The B.Ed. College too during the Becchi Week organized various competitions (Poem on Don Bosco, enactment from the life of Don Bosco, Poster Presentation) and sharing sessions on Don Bosco.

‘Becchi Week’ was organized also for the House Staff.  They were so much keen and interested in taking active part in the competitions held.  Though among the house staff, all were not educated, still they sought the help from sisters and students to do their best for Don Bosco.  This revealed the love for Don Bosco by these young girls who are underprivileged economically and educationally.

Youth Fest: The Becchi week celebration culminated in the Youth Fest celebrated on the 30th of January.  It was, presided over by Rev. Fr. Patrick Anthony Raj Sdb, Director of Youth Commission, Tricy Diocese.  It was on the theme ‘Unity and communion in diversity’ as there is lot of tension in the nation based on the differences in caste and religion.  The short and meaningful prayerful service highlighted the birth bicentennial anniversary of Don Bosco.   Followed by the selected presentations on the same theme was staged for the final round.  The Chief Guest enlightened the gathering on how Don Bosco had been a bond of unity and communion among his youth in the oratory and wherever he went.

Feast of Don Bosco: On the 31st January, 2015, morning, the solemn Eucharistic celebration celebrated by Rev. Fr. Michael Viyagulam. SDB. Rector of Don Bosco, Katpadi, united the sentiments of all in prayer and praise to the Lord for Don Bosco whose birth bicentennial year we are in.  The animation during the liturgical celebration marked the love of Don Bosco for the young people.  After the communion rite, as it was the year of Consecrated people, the sisters renewed their vows after which the entire youth of the hostel invoked the blessings of God for them. The celebration was concluded with the prize distribution in the evening.

BIRTH DAY OF DON BOSCO: To mark the Bicentenary birth year of Don Bosco all the Sisters and Boarding girls had special prayer service on Don Bosco. After the prayer service Sr. Joseph Isabella hoisted the Don Bosco flag in front of the Boarding. Then the animator shared the thought on Don Bosco and distributed sweets to the girls.

BECCKI WEEK: All the sisters and Boarders had a Beccki week from 26 th to 30th August . It was a wonderful experience for all the Boarders and sisters. All the four groups with a guidance of the in charge sisters prepared skits and songs from the life of Don Bosco. Every day Salesian fathers from the Beatitude Centre, S.M.A Sisters and the Junior boys took part in it. After the enactment the Salesian fathers gave good night talk. Through this Beccki Week all relived the spirit of Don Bosco in the Campus.

CAMP FIRE: To conclude the Becchi week we had camp fire in the Nirmala Boarding. All the Sisters in their respective group prepared variety of programme Singing, Miming, Dance and Ponmozhigal on Don Bosco. Salesian fathers, brothers, and SMA Sisters were invited. Rev.Sr.Joseph Isabella lit the camp fire and began the events. All the Boarders performed the items so wonderfully and creatively. All came to know the life of Don Bosco and enjoyed the togetherness. Rev.Fr. Peter Sagayaraj appreciated the Sisters and the children and encouraged them to live like Don Bosco. Sr.Joseph Isabella distributed sweets for all.

DON BOSCO QUIZ: All the sisters together conducted the Don Bosco quiz for the Nirmala Boarding girls. The quiz was conducted in the four groups for both primary and High School separately. All the girls studied the quiz well and took part in it eagerly. At the end Sr.Antony Agnes appreciated the prize winners and encouraged them to make use of the chances given to them.

It was 16. 10. 2014, an auspicious day when the students of Auxilium college – Regunathapuram from both the institutions of B.Ed and Arts & Science around 900 in number gathered together to hoist the flag of Don Bosco as the initiative of the celebration of the Bi-Centenary Year of the Birth of Don Bosco. Girls marched with love and joy towards the grotto of DonBosco. The flag of Don Bosco was majestically brought in procession with the vibrant slogans on Don Bosco, by our young girls.. We could witness the dream of Don Bosco is coming true as, in Regunathapuram , the remotest village of Pudukkottai Dt, the institution of the Higher Education was started and the girls of the first generation are educated as graduate and post graduate teachers. The miracle is taking place and it was not only experienced but proclaimed by the voice of the poor young people. Sr. Siriapushpam Mathew the animator hoisted the flag of Don Bosco amidst the crowd and praised God for the Gift of our Father and Founder Don Bosco. It was a remarkable day in the History of Auxilium, Regunathapuram.

0n 25. 01.2015, Sunday we, the sisters of Auxilium College introduced the Bi-Centenary Birth year of Don Bosco in the sub-parish-dedicated to Our Lady of Refuge. All the parishners were invited to gather infront of the Church and came in a solemn entrance procession. The Don Bosco youth boys carried the flag of Don Bosco while the whole group of faithful followed in procession singing the hymn to Don Bosco. When the group reached entrance of the Church Rev. Fr. Nepolean Albert , the Parish Priest of K. K. Patti blessed and hoisted the flag of Don Bosco. It was followed by the Holy Eucharist with well animated liturgy by Don Bosco Anbiyam members. Sweets were distributed to all those who attended the Mass. Everyone satisfied and happy to celebrate the Feast of Don Bosco with great pomp and solemnity. In the evening the film on the life of Don Bosco was shown to all the people of the village Regunathapuram. The People of the village appreciated and happy to know about the life of Don Bosco. May Don Bosco the Father and Teacher of youth bless and guide them to choose the right decision for their way life and grow as good Christians. Long Live Don Bosco!
