Don Bosco Bicentennial Celebration in Solomon Islands
Three days of festivities (14th, 15th, 16th August) marked the bicentennial of the Birthday of Don Bosco in the Solomon Islands. The Bosconians from the Salesian Schools from Tetere and Henderson, plus the Laura Vicuna Hostel and Mary Mazzarello Development Centre of the FMA rejoiced with families and friends of the Salesians to celebrate in style this very special event. The first day kicked off with the Quiz about Don Bosco’s Life. Don Bosco Has Got Talents was followed with different items from the students. There was an art competition as well where some students had to draw faces of Don Bosco. The second day was for Sports. It was a fun filled day where everyone enjoyed the games as well as each other’s company. Third day, the actual day, began with Holy Mass with students, Past Pupils, Families and friends of don Bosco. The Sisters made a special Birthday Cake in the shape of 200. The heavens opened as a sign of blessings while we enjoyed a shared lunch that the parents, students and families provided. Don Bosco must have smiled from above knowing that his Salesian Family celebrated his Birthday. It was a day filled with joy as we thank God for the gift of Don Bosco to the young people of the world and especially to the Solomon Islands. |
